Immigration Arrest Wandering Chinese National In Abeokuta

Officials of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital have arrested a Chinese National for wondering the streets of the metropolis.

The Immigration officers, two in number had spotted the Chinese man clutching on to a cellophane bag containing some items and walking aimlessly around the Moshood Abiola International Stadium  down to the popular Kuto round about where he was apprehended.

Before his arrest, the Immigration officials had accosted him, inquired about his mission which he could not explain, due to his inability to express himself in English language.

Rather than co-operating with the immigration personnel after flashing their identity card at the alien, the obviously frustrated Chinese put up a stiffer resistance, bit one of the officials and attempted to run away for fear of being arrested.

The development, which drew the attention of members of the public at the Kuto round about however, provoked the Immigration official who put up call across to their Oke - Mosan, Abeokuta office from where other officers came and whisked the alien away for further interrogation.

One of the Immigration official, who declined his identity said the arrest of the Chinese was part of the efforts of his agency to step up surveillance in the state to prevent illegal immigrants who would eventually constitute security threats to the country.

While the drama was going on however, one man, who identified himself as Moruf Tijani who spoke with Journalists, explained that the Chinese man, who could not produce any means of identification when confronted by the Immigration personnel was working with an agricultural company based in Omu - Ijebu, in Odoogbolu local government area of the state.
